NPAN Backs Yar'Adua On Rule Of Law
The Newspapers Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN) has thrown its weight behind President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua's resolve to make respect for the rule of law the major plank of his administration. It also plans to meet, in due cause, the president over the rising cost of publishing materials, especially newsprint.
NPAN President, Mr. Ray Ekpu, who disclosed the association's position at a pre-AGM briefing in Lagos yesterday, said respect for the rule of law remained the only way the arbitrariness, uncivilised conduct and various other insanities exhibited against the press by the government of former President Olusegun Obasanjo could be made a thing of the past.
